The Ombudsman's Office to investigate on Honiara City Council

Honiara residents will finally have the opportunity to voice their dissatisfaction over the services provided by SIEA, SIWA , Solomon Islands postal corporation , Inland revenue and the department of works. For the first time the ombudsman’s office will conduct a survey which will involve an analysis of complaints from Honiara residents about the services providers

The Royal Solomon Islands Police Force is calling on members of the public to assist investigations into the death of a young Temotu Islander. The Deputy police Commissioner Walter Kola says there have been no arrests yet on the case.

Police and maritime authorities have impounded 58 tons of fish catch from two Asian fishing vessels. The vessels were arrested by authorities for allegedly fishing illegally in Solomon Islands waters.

Police seized around 600 cartons of alcohol during the operation. A search warrant staged due to members of the public complaining about high rated of illegal disturbances caused by the drunkards.

No prosecution can bring back the life of the deceased who was killed during the accident opposite the fishing village on Friday 23rd of September 2006. But it is hoped the sentence of Lyn Baura after a prosecution which was conducted fairly and properly should bring some comfort to the victim’s family. Police warn hotels and casinos over prostitution

The recent join operation by the national criminal investigation division and the department of immigration resulted in the arrest of two Asian men who are in custody in relation to prostitution offences. These men were charged with living on the earnings of prostitution and aiding prostitution and receiving money derived from prostitution. Police are now warning hotels and casinos not to support prostitution.

Authorities seize Asian boats for illegal fishing

Two more Asian fishing vessels have been apprehended by authorities for illegally fishing in Solomon Islands waters. The vessels were caught last weekend illegally fishing near the Indispensable Reef.

Two Foreign Nationals arrested over High class Prostitution Ring

After intense media coverage over an Asian high class prostitute ring in the capital police have finally made arrests on the case. The police were unable to divulge further information other than to say that the two Asian nationals are currently on bail. The arrests have been welcomed by the local Chinese community.

Dead man's family plan to sue the hospital and the police for negligence

The family of Makira man Edmond Parangi who was killed as a result of an alcohol related brawl on Monday night are planning to sue hospital authorities and the police for negligence. Edmond Parangi received a deep wound to his head during the brawl at the Mbokonavera Kaibia junction which caused him to die after he was released from hospital.

The accident at Point Cruz in the early hours of Saturday morning involved Papua New Guinea's acting high commissioner. The 7yr old boys body was discovered in a neigbours old refridgerator 3 days after he was reported missing. Willie Saru of borderline today urged authorities to find out the cause of his sons death.

Man in custody over death

Police have arrested a man in relation to a woman’s death. The man who cannot be named was arrested in relation to a fatal traffic accident. Police made the arrest on Tuesday at the white river market. The man, who is in his twenties, has been remanded to appear in court at a later date.
